Job description
Job Overview

Aston Martin is an iconic brand, synonymous with heritage, performance, and innovation. As we continue to grow and expand globally, our Tax team plays a crucial role in ensuring strong governance, compliance, and value creation across the business. The Indirect Tax Manager will take ownership of Aston Martin's global VAT compliance obligations, ensuring all returns are prepared and submitted accurately and on time. Acting as the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day operational queries, the role will provide clear guidance on indirect tax matters and play an important part in shaping decisions across the business.

Role Responsibilities

The position will also support the Senior Group Tax Manager on business initiatives, driving process improvements and introducing efficiencies through technology. In addition, the Indirect Tax Manager will develop and embed policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to strengthen the control environment and reduce risk.

The role involves regular interaction with tax authorities and advisors, managing queries effectively and limiting potential penalties. The Indirect Tax Manager will oversee the relationship with our EU VAT recovery partners, VATIT, while also developing and managing the VAT & Customs Analyst. With high visibility across the organisation, this position offers frequent opportunities to collaborate with senior stakeholders and influence business outcomes in a listed global environment.

Credential & Experience

We are looking for a technically strong VAT specialist with the confidence and determination to take ownership of a newly created role. The ideal candidate will be professionally qualified, ideally ACA, ACCA, or CTA, and have significant experience in indirect tax gained within either a large accountancy practice or a multinational corporate environment.

A deep understanding of VAT legislation and a genuine appetite for continued technical development are essential. Strong communication skills are equally important—the ability to explain complex issues clearly and persuasively to senior stakeholders, while constructively challenging and influencing decisions when required.

Success in this role calls for resilience, attention to detail, and excellent organisational skills to manage multiple priorities within strict deadlines. Strong Excel capability is essential, and experience with tax technology tools such as Alteryx would be an advantage. Most importantly, the successful candidate will bring the drive to implement change, build effective processes, and establish themselves as the go‑to expert on VAT within the business.

Benefits
  • Autonomy and influence – the chance to design processes and controls that shape how VAT is managed across the business.
  • Global exposure – opportunities to work with international tax authorities, advisors, and stakeholders across multiple markets.
