About this job

We’re seeking a pro‑active and experienced Income Officer to join our social housing client on a temporary basis.

This role is essential in ensuring accurate income management and delivering excellent customer service to tenants and stakeholders.

Your new role:

  • Manage a caseload of rent accounts, identifying residents at risk of tenancy failure and taking early action to prevent arrears escalation.
  • Conduct face‑to‑face tenant visits to discuss arrears and provide support, working collaboratively with internal teams to sustain tenancies.
  • Agree affordable repayment plans and signpost tenants to external money advice services.
  • Attend meetings with partner agencies (e.g., DWP, Local Authorities) to resolve benefit queries.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records in line with policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to achieving income collection targets and compliance standards.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Proven experience in income management or rent collection within social housing.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload.
  • Good knowledge of housing legislation, welfare reform, and best practice.
  • Full UK driving licence with business insurance (essential for travel).
