A leading local authority in Edinburgh is seeking an Inclusion Teacher to join the Learning Community. This role involves working with school leaders, teachers, and support staff to support children with Additional Support Needs. Inclusion Teacher Recruitment - Castlebrae and Portobello Learning Community
Salary: £34,938 - £52,614 (pro rata for part‑time)
Hours: 35 per week
The Castlebrae/Portobello Learning Community is fully committed to the inclusion of children and young people with Additional Support Needs. Around 45% of learners across the Learning Community have Additional Support Needs.
Castlebrae High School is a six‑year comprehensive with a roll of 578 young people drawn mainly from three associate primary schools – Newcraighall, Castleview, and Niddriemill. Portobello High School is a six‑year comprehensive with a roll of 1,500 young people drawn mainly from five associate primary schools – Brunstane, Duddingston, Parsons Green, Royal High, and Towerbank.
Each school offers excellent accommodation and facilities that are used extensively by the community. Both schools provide an extensive extra‑curricular programme, a wide range of wider achievement opportunities, and maintain positive links with parents and partners in the local business community.
As a valued member of the Learning Community Inclusion Team you will work with school leaders, class and subject teachers, Support for Learning and Pupil Support staff to strengthen the schools’ capacity to meet children’s and young people’s Additional Support Needs. The role involves working with learners across the full age range of 3–18 with a variety of additional support needs.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. A criminal record check will also be required for applicants who have spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement will be subject to satisfactory outcomes of these checks.
Salary will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
