Quantum Scholars in Somerset is seeking a dedicated SEND Maths Tutor for in-person, one-to-one support with a student in Somerset. The role focuses on delivering accessible Maths sessions tailored to the learner’s needs, building confidence and progress outside a traditional classroom.

Ideal candidates will have Maths tutoring experience at secondary level and prior work with SEND pupils. You must have or be willing to obtain safeguarding checks and the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching or tutoring Maths across secondary level.
  • Experience working with SEND pupils, ideally in a one-to-one or small-group setting.
  • Able to adapt Maths lessons to suit different learning abilities and styles.
  • Patient, empathetic and able to build a positive relationship with the student.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Engaging, practical and accessible Maths activities.
  • Understand the importance of building confidence alongside academic progress.
  • Reliable, consistent and committed to providing continuity of support.
  • Comfortable working outside of a traditional school environment.
  • Must have right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging Maths sessions tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with the student's education team and parents/carers to set learning goals.
  • Monitor progress and adapt sessions on a lesson-by-lesson basis.
  • Provide continuity of support in an in-person tutoring setting.
