In-house Global Tax Manager - Media

This is a hands‑on role in a small tax function of three people, where you will be managing a team of 2 Senior Analysts. The organisation is going through change and modernisation, which means there is plenty of room to add value, improve processes, and shape how tax compliance and reporting is run across the group. The position is fully remote, with occasional in‑person meetings when needed.
Purpose of the role
The Global Tax Manager will take responsibility for day‑to‑day tax compliance and reporting across multiple countries. The focus is on ensuring accurate filings, maintaining good quality working papers, and improving consistency across regions. The role works closely with local finance teams and external advisers and acts as the central point for operational tax matters.
Main responsibilities
- Manage direct and indirect tax compliance across all jurisdictions, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, and VAT or GST.
- Review and sign off tax computations, making sure data is accurate and reconciled to the accounting systems.
- Coordinate with regional finance teams and external tax advisers to meet statutory deadlines.
- Maintain a global compliance calendar and track the status of filings and payments.
- Prepare or review tax provisions each quarter and year end, including deferred tax and any uncertain tax positions.
- Build clear documentation and audit‑ready working papers.
- Improve templates, review steps, and control processes to create a consistent approach across the group.
- Carry out internal reviews of tax submissions to spot risks or gaps and follow up with corrective actions.
- Support the finance team with tax accounting entries and reconciliations.
- Respond to auditor queries and ensure decisions and assumptions are fully documented.
- Act as the main point of contact for tax compliance questions from different regions.
- Work with local teams to interpret jurisdiction‑specific rules and standardise the group's approach where possible.
- Manage relationships with external advisers and ensure work is delivered efficiently.
- Keep track of tax rule changes in relevant countries and explain how these affect compliance or reporting.
- Oversee the work of a tax analyst, providing coaching and guidance.
- Support sharing of knowledge between teams to drive consistency.
- Produce group‑level reporting on tax compliance, exposures, and cash tax forecasts.
- Contribute to month‑end and year‑end activities.
- Help drive process and system improvements.
Skills and experience
- Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent, with several years of post‑qualification experience in international corporate tax.
- Strong working knowledge of both direct and indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions.
- Good understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP tax accounting.
- Hands‑on ability to prepare and review computations, provisions, and returns.
- Experience coordinating external advisers and managing global compliance.
- Familiarity with tax control frameworks and audit requirements.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
- Clear communicator able to work with stakeholders across different time zones.
- Proactive approach and comfortable working in a changing environment where improving processes is part of the role.
