Job summary

Marsden is seeking a Commercial Lawyer to join its in-house Legal Team on a 12‑month fixed-term contract in Central London with hybrid working on a 1-2 day in-office cadence. The role centers on drafting and negotiating a broad array of commercial contracts and supporting strategic corporate projects.

The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years’ PQE in corporate/commercial law, with robust contract drafting skills and exposure to M&A or private equity environments.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with training/practise in corporate or commercial law.
• Strong commercial contracts experience is essential.
• Exposure to M&A or private equity environments is highly desirable.
• In-house experience and healthcare sector exposure are advantageous but not essential.
• Strong academic background.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and procurement contracts, including IT/SaaS agreements, licensing, and third‑party arrangements.
• Support corporate transactions, disposals, joint ventures, financing arrangements, and other strategic initiatives.
• Advise and act as a trusted legal adviser to stakeholders across the business, including in disputes with litigation colleagues.

Commercial Lawyer (12‑Month FTC)

Central London | Hybrid (1-2 days in office)

Start: ASAP | Duration: 12 months

We are seeking a bright, motivated, and articulate Commercial Lawyer to join a high performing in house Legal Team on a 12 month fixed term contract.

The role offers a broad and varied remit and would suit someone who has trained or practised as a corporate lawyer and transitioned into a strongly commercial in house position, with robust contract drafting skills forming the core of their day to day work.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Contracts

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and procurement contracts, including:
• IT/SaaS agreements, third‑party funders, private medical insurers, and clinical and non‑clinical suppliers
• Sponsorship agreements, sub‑contracts, and licences
• Work closely with litigation colleagues to advise on commercial disputes
• Act as a trusted, pragmatic legal adviser to stakeholders across the business

Corporate Transactions & Strategic Projects

• Support M&A, disposals, joint ventures, financing arrangements, and other strategic initiatives
• Assist with the legal integration of new subsidiaries
• Advise on group restructurings and intragroup arrangements

About You

• Qualified lawyer with 2–5 years’ PQE (slightly more senior candidates with strong in‑house experience will be considered)
• Background in corporate and/or commercial law, with strong commercial contracts experience
• Exposure to M&A and/or private equity‑backed environments is highly desirable
• In‑house experience and healthcare sector exposure are advantageous but not essential
• Strong academic background
