Our client is an SME freight forwarder based in Farnborough offering an office‑based position for an experienced Import Clerk.

Position: Import Clerk
Job Summary

Responsible for managing UK import clearance, CDS, and freight operations across air, ocean, and road modalities, ensuring accurate documentation, timely disbursements, and compliance with UK transport and customs regulations.

Employment Terms
  • £28‑35k DOE plus overtime.
  • 22 days plus Bank Holidays.
  • Main days: Mon‑Fri 9‑5.30pm with flexible full‑time working hours.
Skills & Experience
  • At least 3 years UK import clearance experience with current CDS in an import operations environment working for an international freight forwarder.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, all modes of shipping, UK transport landscape, and Heathrow.
  • Air, sea, and road clearance experience and arranging deliveries.
  • Quick learner, self‑starter; knowledge of Sequoia & Boxtop an advantage.
  • Ideal if working in Hampshire, Heathrow or surrounding areas to minimise commute.
Responsibilities – Air Freight
  • Gather import documents (AWBs, CIs) and execute import entries.
  • Arrange disbursements & timely deliveries, avoiding storage and penalties.
  • Knowledge of airport operations and airlines.
  • Monitor shipments.
  • Provide quotations to overseas agents for arrival charges & import spot quotations for established commercial supply chain clients.
  • Process CARNETs and bonded procedures.
Responsibilities – Ocean Freight
  • Gather import documents (BLs, CIs) and execute import entries.
  • Arrange disbursements & timely deliveries, avoiding storage and penalties.
  • Monitor shipments and issue NOAs when required.
  • Provide quotations to overseas agents for arrival charges & import spot quotations.
  • Knowledge of main UK ports, PINS, processes an advantage for both LCL and FCL.
Responsibilities – Road Freight
  • Knowledge of inventory and non‑inventory linked clearances and EU movements since Brexit.
