Job summary

CNWL NHS Foundation Trust seeks an Occupational Therapist to lead OT services within the Surrey Prisons Cluster. You will work in a forward‑thinking MDT to deliver 7‑day mental health care, improving outcomes, wellbeing and equity for prisoners.

The role includes teaching, safeguarding, and contributing to clinical governance with a trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented approach. You will collaborate across services, engage in CPA and multi‑agency case reviews, and educate students on placement as

Qualifications

• Registered Occupational Therapist with NMC/HCPC standing in the UK.
• Experience in mental health and secure settings is advantageous.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills with MDTs.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist OT knowledge for assessment, treatment and evaluation in prison settings.
• Carry out mental health risk assessments and monitor mental state for a caseload.
• Work autonomously with professional judgement within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Develop specialist programs and support recovery and social inclusion goals.
• Utilize validated assessment tools and evidence-based practice for OT interventions.
• Facilitate transitions between prisons and community services and liaise with partner agencies.
• Act as an educator to OT students on practice placements.
