A leading healthcare provider in Brighton is seeking an advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) for their new onco-toxicity and immunotherapy service. This role focuses on improving admission pathways for acute oncology patients, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and supporting educational needs in oncology care. Applicants should have substantial knowledge of immunotherapy treatments and effective communication skills. The position offers opportunities for service development and patient management.
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role‑specific criteria.
An exciting new position has arisen for an advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) role in our new onco‑toxicity and immunotherapy (OTIS) service, that sits within our acute oncology nursing team.
The ACP role will work to help improve efficiency in the admission pathways for all acute oncology presentations by developing new pathways with the same day emergency care (SDEC) teams. The aim is to help to reduce patients attending the emergency department, to develop ambulatory pathways for patients exhibiting toxicities on immunotherapy, in order to prevent admission to hospital. The role will include service development, research, audit and education. The ACP will demonstrate in‑depth knowledge and competence in all aspects of IO treatments and their side effects that supports management of patients on immunotherapy with cancer. The post‑holder will be expected to review all acute oncology SDEC admissions.
Explore and initiate innovative ways of collaborating to continuously improve the care of emergency cancer patients that attend hospitals.
Actively participate with the multi‑disciplinary team, discussion and guidance meetings, and with patients and carers to develop the service.
To support practice and in‑business continuity work at an advanced, highly specialist level demonstrating in‑depth knowledge and competence in all aspects of cancer and encompassing advanced assessment and clinical management skills that are evidence based.
Demonstrate high levels of interpersonal and specialist technical skills in managing teams and collaborating with other ACPs when caring for patients with IO/AO needs.
Discuss and reflect on complex case management.
To use highly developed and specialist knowledge to advise other staff on the investigations and treatment required by cancer patients during their emergency admission.
To use advanced communication skills in the management of IO/AO team to support the team to manage delivering complex information to patient/carers that facilitate their understanding to assist them in decision making processes.
Collaborate with nurses and AHPs in general ward areas supporting their educational needs in developing their skills in caring for patients with acute oncology needs, particularly when communicating sensitive issues.
