Job summary

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a registered nurse to join the Immunisation team. The role is 14 hours per week on an annualised contract, working 42 weeks a year, with a full UK driving licence and access to a car during the working day.

You will be responsible for clinical delivery of vaccinations and patient safety, providing specialist immunisation advice and developing skills in team working across the SCFT area.

Qualifications

• RN/M qualification / degree or diploma.
• Evidence of a range of clinical competencies, experience in a community setting.
• Experience of working with children/young people, IT literate or willing to achieve.
• Understanding of immunisations and public health; good communication and learning from situations.

Responsibilities

• Identify changes in patients' physical, psychological and social status; seek guidance and report to the appropriate MDT member.
• Demonstrate effective time management by prioritising and delegation of patient care within the Immunisation Team.
• Commit to continual professional development, participate in clinical supervision and follow NHS policies and immunisation standards.
• Maintain high standards of clinical information and documentation per guidelines on data storage and handling.
• Attend mandatory training, including infection prevention and control; complete induction within 3 months.
• Agree performance standards with the post holder via annual appraisal and KSF outlines.
• As directed, respond to outbreak situations requiring immunisations as part of incident management.
• Carry out risk assessments and adhere to safe working procedures; contribute to risk management.
• Undertake safe handling and administration of immunisations maintaining cold chain integrity.
• Mentor students and junior staff.
