South West London (SWL) is embarking on an exciting Imaging Digital Transformation Programme to modernise and enhance imaging services across our Acute Trusts. This programme will play a pivotal role in delivering unified digital imaging solutions that support clinical productivity and excellence, operational efficiency and improved patient care.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as the Imaging Digital Transformation and Delivery Lead within the SWL Diagnostics Programme, part of the SWL Acute Provider Collaborative (APC). The SWL APC comprises four acute hospital Trusts: Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated, competent, experienced individual to join our team and contribute to this ambitious programme with the appropriate knowledge and experience of digital solutions within Imaging (Radiology). This role is key to ensure the successful digital delivery, transformation and innovation across the SWL Imaging Network.

Job responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the Transformation, Benefits Realisation, Training and Operational Delivery.
  • Lead the coordination, development, preparation and implementation of the workstream to agreed milestone delivery dates, resolving issues, and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
  • Ensure effective engagement and communication with all relevant stakeholders both internal and external.
Essential Criteria we are looking for in the ideal candidates are summarised below:
  • Strong understanding of NHS digital systems, with specific experience in radiology and imaging services and solutions, including RIS and PACS.
  • Technical, Clinical and/or operational background in radiology services.
  • Excellent programme and project management skills, including:
    • Develop and manage project plans, including risk and issue registers.
    • Produce highlight and board‑level reports, support programme delivery and governance.
    • Strong communicative, administrative and organisational skills.
  • You should be educated to Masters level or equivalent experience with extensive expertise in programme delivery, transformation, and operational implementation.

Additional Notes: This is a 12‑month fixed term contract with the potential to be extended further. Candidates currently working within the NHS will be offered an opportunity on a secondment basis only.

Person Specification
Education/ Qualification/ Training
  • Educated to Master's degree level or has equitable work‑based experience.
Experience
  • Significant experience in service redesign and programme management.
  • Experience of working at senior digital or operational management level in a large complex environment.
  • Previous role in service improvement or operational experience above service manager level.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent technical and organisational skills with the ability to manage complex workloads and multi‑task in complex and sensitive environments.
  • Knowledge of Project and Programme Management using an established project management methodology.
  • Excellent working knowledge of core healthcare systems e.g. RIS and PACS and the role they play in the healthcare setting.
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge of working in a Digital Support environment.
Personal Attributes/ Qualities
  • High level of analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to analyse highly technical & high‑complex data & sensitive information and make high‑level judgements.
  • Ability to negotiate on controversial issues including performance and change.
