Job summary

Kingsdown School is seeking an Independent Learning Suite (ILS) Co-ordinator to supervise students when a teacher is absent. You will ensure learning continues, maintain order, and support students with pre-set activities.

The role suits those who enjoy working with young people, with responsibilities including managing pupil behaviour, coordinating ILS activities, and liaising with the ILS team and teachers. Term-time only, 33 hours per week, with salary range listed.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• At least two years of relevant experience working directly with young people.
• The ability to manage pupil behaviour firmly and fairly, applying established school procedures consistently.
• Self-confidence, exceptional organisational skills, and a flexible approach to changing daily priorities.
• Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with the ILS team and teachers.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes or groups using pre-set learning activities left by regular teachers.
• Maintain good order and keep pupils on task to support learning.
• Coordinate independent study within the ILS room during short-term absences.
• Support learning and provide a calm, reassuring presence for students.
