Job description

We are seeking two proactive ICT End User Support Technicians to join the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust’s IT team. These roles are vital in supporting desktop and portable IT equipment across main and remote sites, helping clinical and operational teams deliver high-quality patient care.

You’ll provide technical support to users, resolving faults promptly and maintaining equipment using current operating systems, deployment tools, and patch management systems.

Other duties include packaging and deploying applications, testing updates, maintaining service records, liaising with suppliers, and performing routine infrastructure tasks like tape changes and system monitoring. You’ll also contribute to ICT projects and broader service improvements.

Please note this is a 12 month Fixed term contract and a full UK driving licence is essential, with travel to remote sites required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to Trust IT users in their daily use of desktop and portable equipment, resolving faults promptly and to agreed standards across both main and remote sites.
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment using the Trust’s current operating systems, deployment tools, and patch management systems, ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards.
  • Support the deployment and maintenance of devices and applications related to the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme, ensuring effective integration, performance, and user experience.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to understand EPR-related requirements and provide responsive technical support, escalating issues where necessary to minimise disruption to patient care.
  • Package and deploy application clients, prepare and test updates, and contribute to the development and maintenance of IT operational procedures.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers to resolve faults or implement enhancements to desktop and portable equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, service requests, and changes using the Trust’s IT service management systems.
  • Perform scheduled tape changes, backup checks, and daily infrastructure monitoring tasks to support system reliability.
  • Contribute to the delivery of agreed ICT projects and undertake other duties consistent with the role as required.
