We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Weymouth and Portland Integrated Community Rehabilitation Team – part of the Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) – delivering care where it matters most: in the heart of the community.

Your Role

Deliver high‑quality physiotherapy assessments and treatments to patients with acute illness; prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and support complex discharges; help patients achieve long‑term goals – primarily in the community, with occasional work on the ward at the local community hospital.

What You’ll Gain
  • Grow your clinical expertise in a supportive, multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Expand your holistic assessment skills beyond traditional physiotherapy practice.
  • Develop leadership and supervisory skills, supporting junior and assistant staff.
  • Contribute to service development, helping shape the future of community rehabilitation.
Requirements
  • HCPC registered physiotherapist.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a car is essential.
  • Passion for community‑based care and rehabilitation.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.

Main duties of the job

To provide physiotherapy assessment and treatment to people in their own homes, care homes or on community hospital wards, depending on locality. To provide a high‑quality person‑centred approach to care delivery which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity. To provide specialist care and interventions, assessments, treatments and managing patients on a caseload, as part of the wider multi‑disciplinary care team. To provide specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of patients/service users. To devise specialist programmes of care for other professionals to deliver and ensure they are delivered appropriately. Act as a role‑model and promote the Trust behaviours of being proactive, positive, respectful, supportive, reliable and trustworthy. Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Job responsibilities

For the main duties and responsibilities for this role please read the attached job description and person specification. When completing your application please ensure your supporting statement reflects the criteria set out in these documents by showing how your experience and skills apply to this post. We understand that using AI can be a useful and supportive tool when completing your application. However, we have also seen an increase in the over‑reliance of AI tools which is negatively impacting applications as they remove candidates individuality, and it becomes much harder to get a sense of who you are and your authentic experience. If you do use AI, it should be used to enhance your application and not to create your supporting statement in its entirety. If we suspect you have used AI to create your supporting statement and this does not match your experience, we may withdraw your application. As part of our vision to have a skilled, diverse and caring workforce, Dorset HealthCare offers support for people getting into work. We offer an employability service to support individuals with application writing, interview skills and other employment support. If you would like or know of anyone who would value this support, please do contactdhc.wideningparticipation@nhs.net
