Job summary

Nextgen Recruits Ltd client in the food industry is seeking a Hygiene Team Leader to lead and motivate the busy hygiene team across production and packing areas. You will plan and deliver daily and weekly cleaning schedules, conduct hygiene checks, and ensure compliance with food safety standards.

This role operates 06:00–18:00 on a 4 on/4 off rota, with ongoing training, development opportunities and a strong emphasis on health and safety culture, audits, and accurate record keeping.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising a diverse workforce.
• Solid hygiene standards in production/manufacturing.
• English language fluency to understand and implement procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the hygiene team across production and packing areas.
• Plan and deliver daily and weekly cleaning schedules, including deep cleans.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, COSHH, biosecurity and company standards.
• Carry out pre-/post-production hygiene checks and sign off areas.
• Train, coach and develop the hygiene team and promote safe working practices.
• Oversee safe use of cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH.
• Maintain hygiene records, support audits and drive continuous improvement.
• Act as a role model for health and a strong food safety culture.

Established in 1926, our highly respected client within the food industry is looking for a Hygiene Team Leader to lead and motivate the busy hygiene team.

The role is a 06:00hrs - 18:00hrs, 4 on, 4 off position.

About the role:

• Lead and motivate the hygiene team to maintain exceptional food safety and hygiene standards across production and packing areas
• Plan and deliver effective daily and weekly cleaning schedules, including deep cleans and line changeovers
• Ensure full compliance with food safety, biosecurity, BRCGS and company standards at all times
• Carry out pre‑and post‑production hygiene checks, signing off areas ready for safe egg packing
• Train, coach and develop the hygiene team, promoting safe ways of working and consistent standards
• Oversee safe use and control of cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH requirements
• Maintain accurate hygiene records, support audits and drive continuous improvement
• Act as a role model for health, safety and a strong food safety culture across the site

Essential experience and knowledge:

• Previous experience managing or supervising a diverse workforce
• A solid understanding of hygiene requirements within a production or manufacturing environment
• English language skills sufficient to understand, explain and implement written and verbal instructions, procedures and requirements

Preferred experience and knowledge:

• Experience working in a high‑care food production environment
• Working knowledge of COSHH, allergen controls and contamination prevention
• Experience supporting internal and external audits
