Job summary

Samworth Brothers is seeking an experienced Hygiene Manager to lead all hygiene activities across the Aylesbury site, driving food safety, compliance and continuous improvement. You will manage a hygiene team, oversee monitoring programmes and ensure readiness for audits, working across shifts to support the operation.

You will bring 3–5 years of hygiene leadership in food manufacturing, HACCP knowledge and a passion for high standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience leading hygiene teams in food manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of microbiological risks and environmental monitoring.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement and quality culture.
  • Leadership and stakeholder management skills to influence across functions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site hygiene operations, cleaning schedules and standards across production areas.
  • Ensure compliance with BRCGS, customer and legislative food safety standards; support HACCP programmes.
  • Coach and develop hygiene supervisors and operatives; promote food safety culture.
  • Manage environmental monitoring programmes and hygiene validation activities.
  • Oversee hygiene budgets, chemical usage and resources; identify efficiency opportunities.

About The Role

Are you an experienced Hygiene Manager looking for your next challenge in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Food to Go operation in Aylesbury, leading all hygiene activities across the site and driving the highest standards of food safety, compliance and operational excellence. As Hygiene Manager, you will lead and develop a hygiene team responsible for maintaining exemplary hygiene standards across production areas, equipment and facilities. You'll play a key role in supporting food safety culture, audit readiness, continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with customer, legal and company requirements.

Please note - As a senior operational leader, you will be required to work flexibly and be present across different shifts to provide leadership, drive standards and support the wider operation. This is a hands-on management role where visibility, engagement and responsiveness to the needs of the business are key.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all site hygiene operations, cleaning schedules and hygiene standards across the manufacturing facility.
  • Ensure compliance with BRCGS, customer, retailer and legislative food safety standards while supporting HACCP, TACCP and VACCP programmes.
  • Develop, coach and motivate hygiene supervisors and operatives, creating a strong food safety and hygiene culture.
  • Manage environmental monitoring programmes, hygiene validation activities and improvement projects to drive performance.
  • Control hygiene budgets, chemical usage and resources while identifying opportunities for efficiency and sustainability improvements

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in a hygiene leadership role within food manufacturing.
  • Experience leading hygiene teams in a high-care or manufacturing environment.
  • Food Safety Level 3 qualification as a minimum, with HACCP Level 3 certification.
  • Strong knowledge of microbiological risks, environmental monitoring and BRCGS standards.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills, with a passion for continuous improvement.
