Job summary

Arup in the UK seeks a Hydrologist to deliver water resources assessments, including WRMP support, strategic planning and drought planning, across Birmingham, Cardiff or Bristol offices. You will work with flood risk, regulatory teams and advisory specialists to ensure high‑quality outcomes within scope and budget.

You will build strong relationships with clients and internal teams, contribute to multidisciplinary assignments, and advance your chartership with the support of senior colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience delivering water resources assessments and drought planning.
  • Advanced modelling and data analysis capabilities with climate change context.
  • Strong client and internal stakeholder relationship building.

Responsibilities

We are seeking talented and enthusiastic Hydrologists with proven experience delivering water resources assessments, such as support for WRMPs, strategic planning, supply and demand analysis, and drought planning to join us in one of our offices in Birmingham, Cardiff or Brist

In this role, you will collaborate with Arup colleagues across a wide range of specialisms — including flood and coastal risk management, water companies, regulatory teams, infrastructure and water advisory, dams and reservoirs, site development, sustainability, and environmental planning — to deliver high‑quality work to agreed scope, timescales and budg

ets.You will help strengthen our existing client relationships, support the technical and commercial delivery of projects, and contribute to multidisciplinary assignments that span consultancy and research. You will also play a part in integrating our broad water‑sector expertise into cohesive, value‑adding project outco

mes.

  • nalysis.Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and manage strong long-term relationships with internal teams, clients, and key stake

holders.

  • Desirable Awareness of current and emerging issues in water resources in the UK and intern
  • ationally.Experience using GIS tools (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS) and associated
  • scripting.Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution or actively working towards chartered status is highl
  • y desired.Experience in scenario development and strategic planning, such as adaptive pathways, formal decision-making approaches,

and MCDA.
