We have an exciting opportunity for a Hydrographic Surveyor to join our fantastic Asset Improvement Team, playing a key role in surveying and managing the Trust's extensive network of canals, rivers, reservoirs, and docks across England and Wales.
You'll be part of a small, skilled team responsible for collecting, processing, analysing, and presenting spatial information about the waterway environment – vital data that supports dredging, reservoir safety, and engineering projects.
Working closely with the Senior Hydrographic Surveyor, you'll help plan and carry out multibeam and single beam echosounder surveys, process data using industry software, and ensure outputs are accurate and actionable for use across the organisation.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands‑on fieldwork, travelling, and working outdoors, while also contributing to essential environmental and engineering projects.
You will be a motivated team player who enjoys varied work and travelling across the UK. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced surveyor seeking a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll need to be comfortable driving a 4x4 and towing a boat trailer, as all survey operations begin from Tinsley Marina, Sheffield, where our equipment and vessels are based. Don’t worry – full training will be provided on boat handling and survey operations.
If you're a detail‑driven surveyor who loves being on (and around) the water, this is your chance to use your technical skills to help protect and enhance the UK's waterways.
Apply now and help shape the future of our national waterway network.
