Job summary

Boskalis Westminster Ltd, the UK subsidiary of the Royal Boskalis Group, is seeking a Hydrographic Surveyor to lead survey activities for major dredging and marine projects in the UK. You will independently perform hydrographic and topographic surveys, coordinate with project teams, and ensure QA and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Hydrography or related field.
  • 3+ years in near/offshore survey.
  • Experience with multibeam and topo systems.
  • Knowledge of Beamworkx and/or Qinsy/QPS.
  • MS Office proficiency (Word/Excel).
  • Ability to lead data acquisition, equipment installation and mobilisations.
  • Independent work capability and proactive approach.
  • Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and execute hydrographic and topographic survey work to safety and QA standards.
  • Assist Project managers in running projects of varying size.
  • Interact with dredging plant requiring survey input.
  • Manage project survey data, calibrations, and QA reporting.
  • Solve technical survey problems during projects.
  • Supervise trainees and junior surveyors.
  • Stay informed on survey trends and propose improvements to the Survey Operations Manager.

Job Description

Make your mark as a Hydrographic Surveyor at Boskalis!

The Hydrographic Surveyoris a self reliant technical professional and is expected to initiate, carry out and report on all Hydrographic and topographic survey work for projects.

Main Tasks:

  • Setting up, installing, and then independently executing all hydrographic and topographic survey work for a project in-line with the safety, health, environment and quality standards.
  • Assist Project managers in the running of projects of varying size.
  • Interact with dredging plant which require survey input.
  • Administering the project survey data, performing all relevant calibrations, and reporting within the company QA system
  • Solving technical survey problems during a project.
  • Supervising trainees and junior surveyors.
  • Staying informed about survey related trends and developments and suggesting improvements to the Survey Operations Manager on a detailed level.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, such as: Hydrography, Marine Geography, Marine Science, Land Survey or related field.
  • 3 years + experience in near and/or offshore survey industry.
  • Detailed and experience based knowledge of multibeam and topographic systems.
  • Experience in the use of Beamworkx and/or Qinsy (QPS software).
  • Knowledge of MS office (specifically Word and Excel).
  • The capability to lead data acquisition, equipment installation and mobilisations.
  • The ability to work independently, with a proactive mentality.
  • Full UK driving licence and Right to Work in the UK.
  • Previous experience in mobilisation of Hydrographic equipment and vessels.
  • Work within the dredging/marine construction sector
  • Dredgeview Software experience
