Job summary

Osprey Engineering Solutions is seeking a skilled Hydraulic Hose Technician for our Cardiff/Bristol depot. This hybrid role combines depot-based hose assembly and counter sales with mobile breakdown support across South Wales and the Bristol/South West England area.

You will identify and assemble hoses and fittings, operate crimping machinery, support customers at the counter, and attend on-site breakdowns to deliver quick, reliable hose solutions while maintaining stock and vehicle readiness.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing and assembling hydraulic hose assemblies.
• Ability to identify appropriate hose, fittings and adaptors quickly.
• Knowledge of hydraulic pressure ratings and industry standards.
• Strong customer service and communication skills for counter sales.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and assemble hydraulic hose assemblies to customer specification.
• Identify and select correct hose, fittings, and adaptors from stock.
• Operate hose crimping machinery safely and accurately.
• Provide counter sales support and advise on hose selection and specs.
• Respond to mobile breakdown callouts across the territory.
• Survey sites to identify hose replacement requirements and cataloguing.
• Carry out pressure testing of hose assemblies to standards.
• Manage depot hose and fitting stock levels and replenishment.
• Maintain the mobile service vehicle in a clean, safe condition.
• Complete job cards, works orders and delivery notes accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe depot environment per health and safety policies.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing customers and support new accounts.

Role Purpose

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Hydraulic Hose Technician to join our team based at our Cardiff/Bristol depot. This is a hybrid role combining depot-based hose assembly and counter sales with mobile breakdown support across the South Wales and Bristol / South West England area. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of hydraulic hose products, fittings, and assembly techniques, with the ability to identify and manufacture the right solution quickly and accurately for every customer requirement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture and assemble hydraulic hose assemblies to customer specification, including cutting, crimping, and fitting of hoses and end fittings across a range of pressure ratings and standards.


• Identify and select the correct hose, fittings, and adaptors from stock using catalogues, cross-reference guides, and technical knowledge to match customer requirements.


• Operate hose crimping machinery safely and accurately, maintaining tooling, dies, and equipment in good working order.


• Provide counter sales support, advising customers on hose selection, routing, pressure ratings, and specifications both in person at the depot and over the phone.


• Respond to mobile breakdown callouts across the territory, attending customer sites to manufacture and fit replacement hose assemblies on-site with minimal downtime.


• Survey customer sites and mobile plant to identify hose replacement requirements, tagging and cataloguing assemblies for future reference and repeat orders.


• Carry out pressure testing of completed hose assemblies in line with relevant standards and quality procedures.


• Manage depot hose and fitting stock levels, ensuring the correct range is available and flagging replenishment requirements promptly.


• Maintain the mobile service vehicle to a clean, safe, and well-stocked standard at all times.


• Complete job cards, works orders, delivery notes, and customer documentation accurately and in a timely manner.


• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised depot environment in line with health and safety policies.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and support the development of new accounts across the territory
