Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to lead modelling and appraisal projects across the UK. You will develop strategic and multi-modal models, forecast demand, and advise on methodologies for major investment decisions.

The role involves managing programmes, budgets and client relationships within the South East Movement & Place team. You will mentor junior staff, contribute to business development, and prepare evidence for business cases and funding submissions,

Qualifications

• Strategic modelling experience.
• Strategic highway modelling using SATURN, CUBE, VISUM or EMME.
• Multi-modal and public transport modelling.
• Demand forecasting and scenario testing.
• Local plan and development modelling.
• Transport data analysis and interpretation.
• Aimsun experience.
• Local modelling using VISSIM, Junctions 10 or LinSig.
• Appraisal and business case development including TUBA, COBA and DfT TAG guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver transport modelling and appraisal projects from inception through to completion.
• Develop and apply strategic and multi-modal models to forecast demand and network performance.
• Advise clients on modelling approaches, assumptions and evidence needs.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and technical quality.
• Build relationships with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Present findings and recommendations to project boards and clients.
• Analyse data to understand travel behaviour and future trends.
• Test schemes and scenarios to support evidence-based decision making.
• Support business cases, funding submissions and economic appraisal studies.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to capability development.
• Contribute to business development and proposal submissions.
