Job summary

Guardian Jobs is seeking an Experienced Accountant and Team Leader in the Falkirk/Cumbernauld area to lead a small team, manage statutory and management accounts, and deliver high-quality client service for a growing SME portfolio.

You will oversee payroll delivery, corporation and personal tax work, and contribute to business development while mentoring junior accountants. Flexible, hybrid options offered where possible.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (CA/ACCA/ICAS/CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong experience in accountancy practice or similar client-facing role, with at least 3 years’ experience.
• Knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102 and SME tax matters.
• Practical payroll experience including PAYE, NIC, RTI and related matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop junior and part-qualified Accountants.
• Review and finalise statutory accounts and management accounts.
• Oversee accounts, corporation tax, personal tax and VAT work.
• Take day-to-day responsibility for payroll delivery and related administration.
• Manage client payroll processes and related queries.
• Support the team with payroll deadlines, accuracy, workflow and client communication.
• Act as trusted adviser and main contact for clients.
• Help business owners understand financial performance and inform decisions.
• Manage workflow, deadlines and quality standards across accounts, tax, payroll and administration.
• Improve systems, processes and ways of working.
• Contribute to wider practice development and future growth.
