Job summary

Warwick District Council is seeking a Recycling Development Officer on a two-year fixed-term contract to lead local recycling initiatives and drive improvements in waste reduction across the district. The role offers hybrid working with on-site attendance as required.

You will deliver campaigns, educational activities and service improvements to boost recycling participation and reduce waste, with a focus on community engagement and partnership work.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience supporting service changes.
• Good working knowledge of environmental, waste and recycling strategies and legislation.
• Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver service improvement projects that increase recycling rates and participation, support service changes, reduce waste and help keep communities across Warwick District clean.
• Plan and deliver educational activities, including campaigns, roadshows, presentations and talks, to promote correct recycling and waste reduction and help residents understand recycling services.
• Help develop and deliver the Council’s waste and recycling responsibilities under the Warwickshire Waste Strategy, the Waste Minimisation Strategy and the Warwickshire Waste Partnership.
• Carry out administrative duties related to recycling and waste reduction. This includes monitoring participation, recording and reporting campaign results, and using data to target areas with lower recycling rates.
• Work with the Waste Education and Enforcement Officer to develop and deliver targeted recycling and waste minimisation campaigns and conduct door stepping visits to engage with the residents to encourage participation in kerbside recycling, reduce contamination and improve both the quality and quantity of recycling.
