Job summary

Urban Green in Manchester is seeking a Principal Ecologist to lead ecological projects, provide technical direction and ensure high delivery standards. The role blends client engagement with hands-on field and desk work to support our North West projects.

You will mentor ecologists, contribute to business development, and manage risk, quality and health and safety across a portfolio of projects, including PEA, EcIA and HRA work.

Qualifications

• Experience leading ecological projects in consultancy.
• Degree in Ecology or Environmental Science or related field.
• MCIEEM membership and UK wildlife knowledge.
• Full UK driving licence and strong organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of ecological projects from client liaison to completion.
• Mentor Ecologists and manage junior staff and priorities.
• Contribute to business development through client relationships and proposals.
• Ensure quality, health & safety and profitable delivery.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders across the business.
• Provide PEA, EcIA and HRA support on complex projects.
