Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications.
• Proven track record of successfully securing media coverage and managing media relationships.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of the media landscape in South Africa and beyond.
• Experience with media monitoring and PR software is essential.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience working in a hybrid or flexible work environment.
• Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic media relations plans to enhance brand visibility and reputation.
• Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key media contacts across various sectors.
• Craft compelling press releases, media kits, and other PR collateral.
• Pitch stories and secure positive media coverage in print, broadcast, and online channels.
• Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations.
• Manage media inquiries and serve as a spokesperson when required.
• Collaborate with internal teams on communication strategies and campaign development.
• Prepare spokespersons for media interviews and provide media training.
• Oversee crisis communication efforts as part of the broader PR strategy.
