Job summary

MBNL is seeking an IT Architect to shape technology strategy and drive architectural excellence across domains. You will provide architectural oversight under the Lead Enterprise Architect, ensuring secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions aligned with the business strategy and digital ambitions.

Hybrid role with at least two days in Reading. You will collaborate with stakeholders, suppliers, and delivery teams to translate business demand into effective technology change and to support

Qualifications

• Experience in enterprise, solution, or technology architecture roles.
• Strong understanding of architecture frameworks and industry best practices.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, integration architectures, APIs, and data platforms.
• Experience working across business, application, data, and technology domains.
• Ability to assess options, risks, costs, and business value.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including presenting to senior audiences.
• Experience with suppliers and outsourced delivery partners.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in business terms.
• Experience in governance or compliance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders, IT teams, and suppliers to align technology solutions with business goals.
• Support development and evolution of enterprise architecture across domains.
• Contribute to technology strategy, roadmaps, and investment decisions.
• Develop and maintain architecture principles, standards, and governance.
• Provide architecture assurance and challenge designs for alignment with standards.
• Apply security, resilience, integration, data governance, and privacy in designs.
• Support governance forums and advise on risks and trade-offs.
• Review supplier architecture deliverables and design quality.
• Monitor emerging technologies and recommend value-driving innovations.
• Define supplier contracts and manage suppliers in-life.
• Collaborate with Cyber-Security, Data, Digital Enablement, Ops, Delivery to turn demand into change.
• Promote best practice and alignment to enterprise architecture vision.
