Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are recruiting a Food and Safety Manager to lead the Public Protection Food & Safety Team. The role focuses on protecting residents and stimulating business confidence across our districts, with responsibilities spanning regulatory delivery, business planning and service improvement.

We value proactive leaders with Environmental Health qualifications and EHORB/Chartered status who can manage multiple workstreams in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Environmental Health.
• EHORB registration and/or Chartered status.
• Experience in Food Safety and Health & Safety Regulation.
• Able to manage multiple workstreams and workloads.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Public Protection to deliver service plans.
• Line manage the Food and Safety Team and direct regulatory work.
• Develop the service and oversee operational delivery.
• Keep up to date with changes in food and safety regulation.
• Coordinate inspection, regulation and enforcement to meet statutory duties.
• Provide professional advice to both district councils.
• Contribute to performance management of Public Protection.
• Review and improve service delivery through project management.
