Job summary

Sheridan Maine are recruiting on behalf of a global business in Farnborough for a Financial Controller. This hybrid, full-time contract role offers £65,000–£75,000 per year and reports to senior leadership.

You will oversee daily financial management, prepare monthly management accounts and board reports, manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, audits, tax compliance, and lead a finance team to strengthen governance and support strategic decisions.

Qualifications

Strong technical accounting knowledge and professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).
Experience managing external audits from planning through to completion.
Excellent knowledge of UK and European tax compliance.
Strong commercial awareness with ability to influence business decisions.
Experience leading and developing finance teams.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP or accounting systems.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day financial management of the business.
Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, annual financial statements, and board reports.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial planning processes.
Oversee the finance team with leadership, mentoring, and development.
Maintain strong financial controls, policies and procedures.
Manage year-end and interim audits with external auditors; liaise to ensure timely audits.
Ensure compliance with tax obligations (Corporation Tax, VAT, CIS, PAYE).
Provide commercial and financial insight to support operational and strategic decisions.
Develop and improve financial systems, reporting processes and internal controls.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business.
