Job summary

Oscar Technology in London (Hybrid) is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to help build and optimise scalable, cloud-based data infrastructure powering analytics and future AI initiatives.

You will design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, develop data models, ensure data quality, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Analytics and Data Science teams to enable reliable data for business decisions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' commercial experience as a Data Engineer.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Commercial experience working with Azure or AWS cloud platforms.
• Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake or Redshift.
• Experience using orchestration tools such as Airflow, Azure Data Factory or Prefect.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing and data modelling principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a delivery-focused mindset.
• Comfortable working within cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines across multiple data sources.
• Develop and optimise cloud-based data platforms to support analytics and operational reporting.
• Build robust data models and transformation workflows using modern engineering best practices.
• Ensure data quality, governance and reliability through monitoring, validation and testing.
• Work closely with Data Analysts, Product Managers and Software Engineers to deliver high-quality data solutions.
• Optimise pipeline performance, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the company's cloud data architecture.
• Help establish best practices around automation, documentation and CI/CD within the data team.
