Job summary

OLIVER in Durban, South Africa, is seeking a Communication Design Intern for a 12-month programme. You will work alongside experienced designers to interpret briefs, craft visual concepts and build a portfolio across campaigns, digital content and brand communications.

You will learn typography, layout, color, and motion graphics basics while developing your creative thinking and end-to-end design process within a fast-paced marketing environment. Hybrid studio-based work is required.

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, creative exploration and strong design fundamentals.
• Ability to develop ideas from initial research and sketches to final execution.
• Good understanding of typography, layout and visual hierarchy.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications is essential.

Responsibilities

• Interpret briefs and translate insights into original design concepts.
• Create mood boards, sketches, storyboards and presentations.
• Develop creative work for campaigns, digital content and brand communications.
• Apply typography, layout, color and imagery effectively.
• Collaborate with designers and client services teams, and participate in reviews.
• Prepare artwork files for production and delivery.
