Job summary

Sellick Partnership is seeking an experienced Costs Draftsman or Costs Lawyer to join our national practice in Manchester. The role involves preparing Bills of Costs, managing court proceedings, drafting documents, and advising clients, with hybrid working and clear progression opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in costs environments, strong communication, and good IT/time recording skills.

Qualifications

• Experience as Costs Draftsman/Lawyer or in a specialist costs environment.
• 2+ years in-house or external costs provider preferred.
• Strong understanding of costs procedures and court rules.
• Experience preparing Bills of Costs and progressing matters through assessment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Organised with strong time management and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Bills of Costs for detailed and provisional assessment.
• Manage costs matters through the court process.
• Draft costs-related documents and correspondence.
• Negotiate and progress costs claims.
• Provide technical costs advice to fee earners and clients.
• Advise clients throughout the lifecycle of their matters.
• Assist with costs budgeting and related applications.
