Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications for a Research Associate to develop multimodal agentic AI for clinical decision support in cardiology. You will curate cardiovascular datasets, integrate imaging and clinical data, and build AI agents to assist clinicians.

Working with cardiologists and the BHF CRE, you will evaluate AI methods for accuracy and usefulness, publish findings, and contribute to funding proposals. A PhD is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, medical image analysis, biomedical engineering, applied mathematics or a related discipline.
• Strong Python programming Skills and practical experience in deep learning.
• Experience with multimodal learning, large language models, AI agents or medical imaging advantageous.
• Clear communication, collaboration and rigorous, reproducible research.

Responsibilities

• Curate multimodal cardiovascular datasets.
• Develop methods to integrate imaging and clinical information.
• Design AI agents that gather evidence and support clinical reasoning.
• Evaluate accuracy, reliability, interpretability and clinical relevance of AI systems.
• Contribute to research publications and conferences; support funding applications.
