Job summary

SSEN Transmission's HVDC Engineering team is looking for an Assistant Engineering Manager - HVDC to drive technical delivery from concept through commissioning on major projects (£700m–£2bn). You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure safe, integrated solutions meet the highest standards.

You will manage interfaces across HVDC control, protection and plant, develop engineering resources, promote Safety by Design and contribute toward future engineering leadership within Scotland's

Qualifications

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline with Chartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership.
• Significant HVDC, power transmission, substation design or high voltage plant experience.
• Strong understanding of complex system integration and multidisciplinary project delivery.
• Experience managing technical interfaces across engineering disciplines, contractors and stakeholders.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; mentoring engineers; knowledge of power system simulations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Engineering Manager in delivering HVDC engineering solutions from concept to commissioning on major projects (£700m–£2bn).
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across HVDC control & protection, high voltage plant and auxiliary systems.
• Identify and manage engineering, quality and interface risks with project leaders, contractors and stakeholders.
• Develop engineering resources and review designs to meet project requirements and industry standards.
• Champion Safety by Design and support safe construction, testing and commissioning activities.
