HVAC Project Engineer

Permanent | Site-based | Competitive Salary

VIQU have partnered with a leading engineering organisation delivering specialist HVAC and ventilation systems for safety-critical facilities across Energy, Defence, and Transport sectors. This is a key role for an experienced HVAC Project Engineer to ensure the flawless delivery of engineering work scope, meeting project timescales, cost, quality, and safety requirements. You will work across design, site execution, and stakeholder management, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities of the HVAC Project Engineer
  • Develop project schedules and milestones, coordinating with design engineers, contractors, and suppliers
  • Review project scope and ensure alignment with client requirements
  • Attend project meetings and provide technical input to support design and execution
  • Review and validate HVAC designs, ensuring compliance with codes, standards (eg, Dw144), and specifications
  • Approve equipment selections and submittals, resolving technical issues throughout design and construction
  • Monitor installation activities on site for quality and safety, conduct inspections, and verify work against drawings
  • Coordinate commissioning, testing, and timely delivery of materials and equipment
  • Maintain project documentation including RFIs, change orders, progress reports, handover documents, and O&M manuals
  • Track project costs and support budget control, reporting progress to stakeholders and escalating issues as needed
  • Communicate with clients, provide technical presentations, manage feedback, and support post-installation troubleshooting
Key Requirements of the HVAC Project Engineer
  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
  • Strong knowledge in design and fabrication/assembly of packaged plant rooms - structural, piping, maintainability, transportation
  • Experience with modular design and manufacture
  • Awareness of industry standards and legislation, including CE marking
  • Customer-facing with high commercial awareness
  • Experience with requirements, configuration, and change management
  • Ideally experienced in HVAC design and bespoke mechanical equipment within Nuclear applications
  • Proven experience in tendering and delivery through full project life cycle
  • RIBA conversant with excellent communication skills
