Job Title: HVAC Commissioning Engineer

Location: Primarily South of England

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Commissioning Engineer to join our dynamic team in the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning HVAC systems across a range of commercial, industrial, and residential projects. You will play a vital role in ensuring HVAC systems are installed, tested, and fully operational in accordance with client specifications, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commission, test, and balance HVAC systems in line with design specifications and project requirements.
  • Perform initial system checks, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues on-site.
  • Set up and adjust HVAC system settings to achieve optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth coordination during installation and commissioning stages.
  • Conduct air and water balancing, adjusting dampers, valves, and air handling units to achieve desired performance.
  • Ensure all testing and commissioning activities comply with relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Provide technical support and advice to clients and team members during the commissioning process.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation of commissioning activities, including test results and system configurations.
  • Identify potential improvements and offer recommendations to enhance system performance or reduce energy consumption.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as an HVAC Commissioning Engineer
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems, including chilled water, heating, ventilation, and ASHP/CHP systems.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CSA, NVQ Level 3 in HVAC, City & Guilds, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, such as BSRIA, CIBSE, and regulations.
  • Strong technical problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Full UK driving license and ability to travel to various sites as required.
  • Health and safety awareness with an ability to adhere to all safe working practices.
  • Familiarity with HVAC commissioning tools and software (such as Trend, BMS systems, etc.) is desirable.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with building management systems (BMS) and their integration with HVAC equipment.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of HVCA commissioning.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior engineers.
