Job summary

Deploy Recruitment Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with HV experience to join a major DNO framework. Projects cover 33kV to 132kV with opportunities for remote work and a preference for candidates based in Yorkshire.

You will design and cost HV networks, analyse performance, and support project delivery through site visits, business cases, and stakeholder engagement. A strong background in ENA/GRID standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with high voltage connections from 33kV to 132kV in utility networks.
• Familiarity with ENA engineering recommendations and acceptance processes.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and HS&E requirements within electricity projects.

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer with experience in high voltage (HV) connections design to join a major DNO framework. Schemes are from 33kV - 132kV and remote working is supported (with a preference for candidates to be based in Yorkshire).

Role:

• Design and cost 33kV - 132kV network projects, such as new connections, asset replacement and diversions.
• Analyse network issues and performance problems, developing technically robust, cost-effective solutions to improve network performance and reliability.
• Assess generation connections and raise jobs for Witness Testing in accordance with relevant technical and operational requirements.
• Prepare concise business cases in the required format and present them for authorisation within agreed timescales, supporting the timely delivery of the Production Plan.
• Determine the appropriate Point of Connection (POC) for new load and generation enquiries on HV networks up to 132kV.
• Undertake site visits, stakeholder meetings and other site-based activities as required to support project development and delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in HV connections or general HV network design between 33kV and 132kV with a DNO, IDNO or ICP
• Knowledge and application of Electricity Network Regulations and National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) requirements.
• Understanding of DNO and IDNO design standards, technical requirements, and scheme approval processes.
• Application of relevant ENA Engineering Recommendations and industry standards in network design.
• Understanding of Grid Code requirements relating to protection settings and network protection.
• Awareness and application of Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) requirements within the electricity industry.
• Understanding and application of CDM Regulations.
• Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (or equivalent).
• Driving licence.
