About the role

To support our continued growth we are looking for a HV Commissioning Engineer to join our team. We are looking for someone who is passionate, not just about the industry, but also about supporting our teams to in delivering essential services 24/7/365 that really make a difference to local people and communities.
As a HV Commissioning Engineer you will
- Attend commissioning meetings with representatives from our clients engineering and operational teams.
- Undertake Site Acceptance Testing for major items of plant. (From LV up to and including 132kV Transmission Level. Circuit Breakers / Transformers / P&C Panels / AVC etc.)
- Commission, interface, and set to work of equipment, including:
- LV Switchgear (Manufacturers include Brush / Schneider)
- HV Switchgear (Siemens / Schneider and Legacy Switchgear types)
- Substation Ancillary systems (Battery Chargers / Local Control Interface panels / HMI / LV AC Supplies etc / Comms / Scada Control Panels (RTU))
- Wide knowledge of Protection relays including Alstom, Schneider, Siemens including Settings input / PSL / CFC / Logic diagrams.
- Preparation of installation Cable Schedules and Core Sheets.
- Demonstration of commissioned plant to our client's representatives to gain plant sign off.
- Completion of commissioning records ensuring that all progress and equipment settings are recorded for the O&M manuals.
About you
- We require you to have Scottish Power Authorisation EN1, W1, SR3, WL1.05 & WL1.08 preferred or previous relevant DNO experience essential.
- Must be familiar with Distribution and Transmission (132kV) Level protection systems.
- Knowledge of Omicron numerical protection test equipment - Advanced Distance / Differential and Control Centre a distinct advantage. Along with familiarity of knowledge of Schneider / GE (Agile) / Siemens (Digsi 4 & 5) software packages would be a distinct advantage.
- Understanding of IEC61850 substation Scada protocol preferred.
- Ability to supervise and advise site installation teams on aspects of protection installation.
- Flexibility to adapt to ever changing dynamic site conditions prior to and during planned outage works. Including flexibility to work longer than standard hours.
- Ability to fit in to a commissioning team as well as independent working when required a must.
