The Assignment: Continuity in Humanities Education

We are seeking a proactive highly adaptable QTS Humanities Teacher to join a respected department at a Secondary School in Cambridge on a temporary contract or supply basis.

This role is vital for maintaining the breadth and depth of the students' Humanities education You will be responsible for planning and delivering stimulating lessons that cover various elements of the Humanities curriculum. Your efforts will ensure academic continuity and foster a greater understanding of global and historical contexts.

Core Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional Humanities lessons (covering a combination of History, Geography, and potentially RS) across the required key stages, managing differentiated learning effectively.
  • Evaluate and mark student assignments promptly and accurately, providing feedback that aids the development of analytical essay writing and source analysis skills.
  • Maintain an effective, inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable debating ideas, examining evidence, and engaging with challenging content.
  • Collaborate closely with the existing department team regarding current schemes of work, resource use, and student intervention strategies.
  • Adhere strictly to all school policies, including safeguarding procedures and expected standards of professional conduct.
Candidate Profile
  • Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, along with a relevant degree in History, Geography, or a related Humanities discipline.
  • Proven experience teaching at least two core Humanities subjects across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) is highly desirable.
  • Strong adaptability and organisational skills required to quickly integrate into the department and pick up existing cover work.
  • Excellent communication and rapport-building skills with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
