Job description

CPOMS, a Raptor Technologies company, is the market leader in safeguarding, pastoral, and wellbeing solutions for UK educational institutions and beyond. Through our innovative software, we transform how schools and organisations approach the critical task of ensuring the wellbeing of young people and staff.

Trusted by over 20,000 schools and a variety of safeguarding-focused organisations, CPOMS is committed to enhancing child protection and wellbeing practices. Our UK operations continue to grow, and we are expanding our HR team to support a dynamic, fast‑moving organisation.

Specifically, we are seeking an experienced HR Manager with strong expertise in recruitment and HR operations to join our UK HR team supporting our UK employees. This role will act as one of two key HR points of contact in the UK, partnering closely with managers across the business while working alongside the US‑based HR team as a partner and peer. The HR Manager will oversee day‑to‑day HR operations, lead UK recruitment efforts, advise on employee relations matters, and support the full employee life cycle for a defined group of UK employees. This is a hybrid role, with a requirement to be in our Skipton office two days per week regularly.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
    • Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for UK roles, ensuring high‑quality talent joins the business.
    • Oversee creation and maintenance of job descriptions for assigned UK posts.
    • Manage job advertising, sourcing strategies, and candidate pipelines.
    • Support hiring managers with screening, interviewing, and selection.
    • Conduct initial interviews and ensure a consistent, high‑quality candidate experience.
    • Train and coach hiring managers in effective interviewing and selection skills.
    • Manage the UK recruiting budget and relationships with external agencies when required.
    • Conduct comprehensive compensation analyses using Radford survey data and supplementary market insights to ensure competitive, equitable, and regulatory‑compliant pay practices.
    • Partner closely with Finance and business leaders to develop, validate, and manage annual headcount plans and budget allocations.
  • HR Operations
    • Manage the operational day‑to‑day HR processes across the employee life cycle for designated departments, including onboarding, probation, offboarding, and workflow management.
    • Maintain accurate and compliant HR records, ensuring data integrity, GDPR compliance, and confidentiality.
    • Serve as the escalation point for UK HR issues, providing timely and practical support.
    • Evaluate and improve HR policies, processes, and documentation to enhance efficiency.
    • Build strong relationships with leaders and teams to provide strategic and operational HR support.
    • Provide expert advice and guidance on employee relations matters, including absence, disciplinary, capability, and grievances.
    • Actively work to build and maintain good relationships with US HR counterparts through regular communication and open partnership.
  • HR Compliance and Reporting
    • Ensure full compliance with UK employment law, company policies, and best‑practice standards.
    • Prepare HR metrics, reports, and insights for senior leadership.
    • Stay up‑to‑date on HR trends, legislative changes, and industry developments to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Performance Management & Development
    • Support business leaders during quarterly performance reviews, ensuring consistency and fairness, and following standard global HR process.
    • Coach managers to strengthen leadership capabilities and improve team performance.
    • Champion a high‑performance, feedback‑driven culture across the UK organisation.
  • Payroll Support
    • Assist with monthly UK payroll processing in partnership with the US Payroll Manager.
    • Enter payroll data accurately and ensure timely updates to employee records in both UK and US payroll systems.
    • Support the ongoing upkeep of payroll‑related documentation and internal controls.
  • Employee Engagement
    • Promote a positive, inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration and employee voice.
    • Support engagement initiatives, recognition efforts, and cross‑team communication.
Qualifications
  • Degree‑level qualification in Human Resources (or related discipline) or related experience and CIPD Level 5
  • Proven experience as an HR Manager, HRBP, or Senior HR Advisor with significant exposure to recruitment.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with full‑cycle recruiting, including sourcing and interviewing.
  • Experience managing employee relations, performance management, payroll inputs, and HR operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build credibility at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Able to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating with colleagues across geographies.
Preferred
  • CIPD Level 5 or Level 7
  • Experience working in a scaling or multi‑site organisation.
  • Experience with HRIS and ATS systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Greenhouse).
  • Background supporting both HR operations and recruiting in a shared‑service or matrix model.
Requirements
  • A private, secure home workspace suitable for confidential work and discussions.
  • Ability to travel to the Skipton office two days per week.
  • Ability to join virtual meetings across time zones, including occasional overlap with US working hours.
  • Commitment to following data privacy, GDPR, and company security protocols.
