HR Manager - 12 Month Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover)

The Role

We’re on the lookout for a hands‑on HR Manager at a genuinely exciting moment for New Victoria Hospital. We’ve recently joined the Bupa Health Services family, and alongside keeping day‑to‑day HR operations running smoothly, you’ll play a key role in facilitating our further integration into Bupa, aligning policies, systems and ways of working, and helping colleagues experience the benefits of being part of the Bupa Health Services family. You’ll report to the HR Director and line‑manage a capable HR Assistant, and support around 340 colleagues and workers.

What will I be doing?
  • Oversee day‑to‑day HR operations as the Head of Department for HR, ensuring a seamless experience for all colleagues.
  • Advise and coach Heads of Department on employee relations, performance, and attendance matters.
  • Manage complex ER casework, including misconduct, capability, and long‑term absence cases.
  • Lead change management programmes including restructures and consultations.
  • Support Heads of Departments to deliver effective, compliant recruitment.
  • Deliver people manager training, coordinate Hospital induction and work with departmental training champions to ensure hospital wide mandatory training compliance.
  • Oversee benefits management including monthly pension submissions.
  • Provide direct line management to the HR Assistant and oversee their workstreams, ensuring effective support and guidance.
  • Support the HR Director with Bupa integration activities.
What do I need?
  • CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience) and a proven generalist background.
  • Extensive, demonstrable experience in ER case management and change management experience.
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills and the ability to assimilate and analyse complex business issues.
  • Experience of assessing HR Systems, processes, ways of working.

Nice to have : previous healthcare sector experience ideally in a private healthcare setting, familiarity with ADP, exposure to TUPE and post‑merger integrations.
