Job description

Contract: 1 Position, Permanent, 35 hours per week

Location: Edinburgh

Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s leading charity for dementia and brain health. We are Scotland’s national dementia charity. Our aims are to prevent, care and cure dementia, and to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We are a member‑led charity with more than 8,000 members, supported by over 500 volunteers, and employ around 400 full‑and part‑time staff, mainly in our service‑provision across Scotland. Our people are our greatest asset.

The role

The successful candidate will join a small, fast‑paced and highly flexible HR team. As an HR Assistant you will be responsible for supporting the organisation on the full recruitment onboarding process, providing accurate and timely reports and ensuring accurate payroll information on a monthly basis through our HR platform, iTrent. You will also lead on maintaining our volunteer checks across the charity. The role involves proactively working with managers and employees to support a range of queries through the HR mailbox and by phone, including advice on policies and procedures. Development opportunities include working on a range of HR projects and focus areas.

The person

We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a generalist HR role, has a keen eye for detail, and consistently seeks ways to improve processes. The ideal candidate will adopt a customer‑service approach to HR, bring evidence of recruitment experience, HR systems and reporting from a previous HR role, and be comfortable managing a busy workload independently. Flexibility in approach and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential.
