Tokamak Energy Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to advance HTS magnet technologies for fusion energy systems. You will focus on mechanical/structural design, FE modelling, and verification to ensure mechanical integrity of magnet assemblies within a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes simulation and testing alignment, material modelling, and collaboration with test engineers to push development from concept to prototype and eventual commercialisation within the fusion energy sector.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Strong experience in structural analysis and finite element modelling.
• Advanced knowledge of ANSYS Mechanical and ANSYS Workbench.
• Experience analysing complex mechanical systems and structures.
• Understanding of material properties, structural behaviour and validation methods.
• Ability to interpret test results and correlate with simulations.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments.

Responsabilités

• Develop mechanical and structural designs for HTS magnet systems.
• Build, validate and improve detailed finite element models using ANSYS Mechanical and ANSYS Workbench.
• Analyse stresses, strains, thermal effects and structural performance of complex magnet assemblies.
• Own the mechanical development of magnet designs from concept through testing and validation.
• Maintain and develop the mechanical materials database and material models for simulations.
• Collaborate with test engineers to correlate test data with simulations.
• Produce technical reports and recommendations based on modelling results.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to support programme delivery and technology development.
• Support prototyping, testing and commercialisation activities.
