Carrington West is seeking an experienced SHW Advisor to support live highways and civil engineering sites across the South West, with a focus on night works. The role is site-based and requires regular travel to sites around Bristol.

You will provide specialist safety, health and wellbeing advice, ensure compliance with ISO standards, and help embed safe working practices across projects, reporting on SHW performance and investigations.

Formación

• Experience of highways night works.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
• Tech IOSH membership.
• Appropriate CSCS card.
• Experience working within civil engineering or construction.
• Strong knowledge of SHW management systems and current best practice.
• Experience undertaking incident investigations, audits and reporting.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsabilidades

• Provide SHW advice, guidance and assurance across operational sites (highways, bridges, drainage, civil works).
• Support delivery of the SHW strategy across projects.
• Coach and challenge operational teams to embed best practice.
• Monitor SHW performance, identify trends and drive improvement.
• Lead accident and incident investigations and ensure lessons are implemented.
• Carry out audits, inspections and assurance reviews against ISO standards and RISQS.
• Attend project and client meetings on SHW matters.
• Contribute to safety communications, briefings and stand-downs.
• Provide SHW input during project planning and pre-delivery stages.

Are you an experienced SHW Advisor with a background in civil engineering or highways?

Do you have experience supporting live highways projects, including night-time works?

Location: South West England (site-based)

Salary: Up to £55,000 + car

A leading civil engineering contractor is looking for an experienced SHW Advisor to support its Regional Civil Engineering business across the South West.

You will provide specialist Safety, Health and Wellbeing advice, guidance and assurance across live operational sites, supporting the delivery of highways, bridges, structures, drainage and wider civil engineering schemes.

Working closely with operational teams, you will help ensure safe working practices are embedded across projects, maintain compliance with relevant legislation and management systems, and promote a positive safety culture.

The role will be based in the South West, ideally around Bristol, with regular travel to sites and a requirement to be on site five days per week. Experience supporting highways night works is particularly important.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide SHW advice, guidance and assurance across operational sites.
• Support the delivery of the SHW strategy across civil engineering projects.

• Lead accident and incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
• Carry out audits, inspections and assurance reviews against ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and RISQS.
• Attend project and client meetings, representing the business on SHW matters.
• Contribute to safety communications, briefings and stand-downs.
• Provide SHW input during project planning and pre-delivery stages.
