Job summary

Utimaco is seeking an HSM Operations Administrator to support the administrative and operational activities of our team in Aylesbury. The role combines logistics, service administration and cryptographic key management duties in a secure room.

No prior HSM experience is required as training is provided; you will learn step-by-step procedures and work closely with colleagues in a controlled security environment on-site in Aylesbury.

Qualifications

• Strong IT foundation and interest in security/cryptography.
• Familiarity with security-sensitive environments is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and learn new concepts.
• Willingness to work on-site in a controlled environment in Aylesbury.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment and licensing across services and renew before expiry.
• Coordinate equipment orders, shipments and deliveries.
• Support HSM and cryptographic key management from the secure room following procedures.
• Act as stand-in Security Officer when required and perform security-sensitive tasks.
• Maintain accurate operational and administrative records.
• Assist the HSM Operations team with additional admin tasks.

About the role: Various organisations, including banks, technology companies and other security-sensitive industries, rely on cryptographic services to protect sensitive data and cryptographic keys. As part of our Trust-as-a-Service offering, Utimaco operates Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) across data centres around the world. Our HSM Operations team manages these systems from controlled secure-room environments. As our services continue to grow, we are looking for an HSM Operations Administrator to support the administrative and operational activities of our team in Aylesbury. The role combines logistical and service administration with controlled HSM and cryptographic key management activities. These operational activities are performed according to detailed, documented procedures and can be learned as part of the role. Previous HSM experience is therefore not required. Due to the nature of the responsibilities, this is primarily an on-site position based in Aylesbury, with regular presence in the secure room required.

• Maintain equipment and software licensing across the relevant services and ensure licences are renewed before expiry.
• Coordinate and follow up on equipment orders, shipments and deliveries.
• Work together with other authorised team members to perform HSM and cryptographic key management activities from the secure room, following approved step-by-step procedures.
• Act as a stand-in Security Officer when required, performing defined security-sensitive activities in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain accurate operational and administrative records.
• Support the HSM Operations team with other administrative and operational activities as required.
