Job summary

Get Staffed Online Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing (HSEW) Advisor to join our client’s team in the health and safety consultancy sector. You will collaborate with design and delivery teams to drive continuous improvement in safety, environment and wellbeing across projects.

The role requires strong communication and influencing skills, NEBOSH or equivalent, and active involvement in risk assessments, incident investigations and performance

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Grad IOSH, working towards CMIOSH or CM IOSH.
• UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to sites.
• Experience in health, safety or HSE advisory roles in high-risk sectors.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent HSEW advice to project and operational teams.
• Undertake inspections, audits and assurance activities for improvements.
• Promote prevention of serious injuries through risk management and controls.
• Support safe-by-design principles via design reviews and risk assessments.
• Assist investigations of incidents, near misses and environmental events.
• Share learning from incidents and drive best practice across teams.
• Analyze HSEW performance data and contribute to reporting.
• Promote wellbeing and psychological safety within the team.
• Support environmental protection initiatives and prevent pollution.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing (HSEW) Advisor to join their growing team.

Working closely with operational, design and delivery teams, you will provide practical support, assurance and guidance to help create a positive safety culture and ensure the highest standards are maintained across projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the development and delivery of HSEW strategies, objectives and improvement initiatives.
• Provide competent health, safety, environmental and wellbeing advice to project and operational teams.
• Undertake inspections, audits and assurance activities, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Promote the prevention of serious injuries and high-potential incidents through effective risk management and verification of critical controls.
• Support safe-by-design principles through active involvement in design reviews and risk assessments.
• Assist with the management and investigation of incidents, near misses and environmental events, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
• Facilitate learning from incidents and share best practice across teams.
• Support the collection and analysis of HSEW performance data and contribute to reporting requirements.
• Promote wellbeing and psychological safety, encouraging a positive and inclusive working culture.
• Support environmental protection initiatives and help prevent pollution and environmental incidents.
• Engage with suppliers, subcontractors and stakeholders to drive consistent standards and behaviours.
• Challenge unsafe practices where necessary and support the implementation of effective risk controls.

About You

Our client is looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent communication and influencing skills.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 or equivalent qualification.
• Grad IOSH, working towards Chartered Membership (CMIOSH), or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and construction risk management, including CDM Regulations.
• Experience in a Health and Safety or HSE advisory role within construction, infrastructure, utilities, water, rail or other high-risk sectors.
• Experience supporting incident investigations and implementing lessons learned.
• Ability to undertake inspections and audits and produce clear, concise reports.
• Strong data analysis skills with the ability to identify trends and recommend improvements.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project locations.

Desirable:

• PISEP qualification or working towards.
• Internal Auditor qualification aligned to ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001.
• Experience delivering training, coaching and behavioural safety initiatives.
