HSE Manager (Novel Energy) Staff
Location: London

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast–growing engineering business during a period of continued growth as they support the Renewable / Novel Energy sectors. This is a senior / key role that will form part of the Clients core management team. The role will be mainly based in London but will require regular travel to site in North East England.

The role is working client side on a ground breaking novel energy project with excellent career progression opportunities.

Role & Responsibilities
  • A key member of the Management team, providing leadership and guidance on all HSE matters (personal, process, regulatory and compliance) at every stage of the project development from FEED through to construction.
  • Responsible for the development of local HSE Programs in compliance with local and state regulations relevant to the organisation's operations.
  • Responsible for managing HSE systems, generating reports and statistics, conducting presentations and training and giving guidance and advice to management, employees, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure that all Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements are maintained and continually seek ways to improve the site's approach and performance with respect to HSE.
  • Responsible for ensuring the company complies with all legal and moral responsibilities with respect to health, safety and the environment.
  • Generating and maintaining HSE policies, procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Conducting regular HSE site inspections and audits and collaborating with the department management and organisation to execute required actions will require regular travel to site in North East of England.
  • Create a HSE system of incident reporting, investigation and analysis, ensuring the site investigates and report all near misses, incidents and reportable accidents: internally to relevant persons, and externally to the relevant authorities with a key focus on continually learning and improving from the insight provided.
  • Keep up to date with legislation, conduct regular audits / inspections of the company and contractors, implementing actions when necessary.
  • Act as company focal point regarding all liaison with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Take ownership of the site's emergency response processes, identify improvements and providing ongoing development and training for the site to ensure a robust and fit for purpose emergency response capability.
  • Manage the management of change system, supporting line management as required.
  • Plan, implement and coordinate actions to maintain ISO certification.
  • Responsible for identification and timely submission of all applicable HSE permits required for the site operation.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Occupational Health and Environment Regulations.
  • Manage HSE KPIs, ensuring targets are achieved and reporting them for the board and senior management.
  • Ensure that accidents and other HSEQ events are properly reported, investigated and all lessons learned implemented on time.
  • Monitoring the office's "permit–to–work" system and the effectiveness of policies and procedures.
Key Skills & Knowledge
  • Successful track record in leading the HSE function for large scale energy industry projects – experience of being involved in the FEED stage would be high advantageous, as would experience of demolition.
  • Experience in dealing with people at various levels in an Organisation and the Regulatory bodies.
  • Ideally degree qualified though other qualifications with suitable experience is fine.
