Job summary

Donovan Marrison Ltd is recruiting an experienced Field HSE Lead for a major energy project on Teesside. The role is site-based, leading a team of 4 HSE Officers and reporting to the Project HSE Manager.

You will implement HSE systems, ensure compliance and drive performance across the site and subcontractors. The successful candidate will bring recent site HSE leadership experience on large energy or oil and gas projects, with UK HSE legislation knowledge and CDM expertise.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an HSE Manager or senior HSE leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations.
• Experience with HAZOP/HAZID, risk assessments and Hazard and Effect Management.
• Experience leading a team of HSE Officers and reporting to a Project HSE Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 4 HSE Officers on site and manage HSE matters.
• Implement and maintain HSE management systems per ISO, IOGP and company standards.
• Conduct accident and incident investigations and oversee risk assessments.
• Provide HSE guidance to project management and subcontractors, ensuring compliance.
• Interface with client, subcontractors and authorities on HSE issues.
• Develop emergency response arrangements and oversee HSE monitoring and audits.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Field HSE Lead to join a major energy project based in Teesside. This is a 12 month contract role, and our client is looking for someone to start as soon as possible. You must have recent and relevant site-based HSE leadership experience on major energy, oil and gas or similar projects.

The successful candidate will lead a team of 4 HSE Officers and report directly to the Project HSE Manager. This is a hands-on site-based HSE leadership role, with responsibility for implementing and managing HSE systems and ensuring effective HSE performance across the site and subcontractor activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 4 HSE Officers
• Act as the HSE focal point for site activities and manage HSE matters arising on site
• Implement and maintain HSE management systems in accordance with company, IOGP and ISO standards
• Provide HSE advice and support to project and site management
• Ensure effective HSE management and compliance across subcontractor activities
• Apply UK HSE legislation and CDM requirements
• Interface with the environmental management team and provide onsite HSE support
• Lead accident and incident investigations
• Establish and implement HSE monitoring and audit programmes
• Lead risk management activities including HAZOP, HAZID, risk assessments and Hazard and Effect Management processes
• Liaise with the client, subcontractors and relevant authorities
• Develop and implement emergency response arrangements for identified potential events

Requirements

• Proven experience in an HSE Manager or senior HSE leadership role
• Strong site-based HSE experience within major energy, oil and gas or similar projects
• Experience working with international oil and gas industry standards, preferably IOGP
• Good knowledge of UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Previous experience managing or leading an HSE team
