Job summary

Fluor in Royston is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to drive health, safety and environmental excellence on a major site-based project in Royston. You will lead on-site HSE delivery, manage risk assessments, permits to work, and incident investigations, while ensuring compliance with UK legislation and client standards.

You will chair HSE meetings, deliver inductions and training, monitor performance metrics, and drive continual improvement within a collaborative project team.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree, diploma, or professional HSE qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent).
• Proven experience leading HSE on major projects and strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong HSE culture across the project.
• Provide day-to-day HSE leadership on site activities.
• Advise teams on HSE legislation and client requirements.
• Deliver site inductions and HSE training initiatives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HSE Manager to join a major site-based project in Royston. This role will play a critical part in driving health, safety, and environmental excellence across multiple work fronts, ensuring compliance while promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong HSE culture across the project.
• Provide day-to-day HSE leadership and oversight on site activities.
• Advise project teams on HSE legislation, company standards, and client requirements.
• Deliver site inductions and support HSE training initiatives.
• Chair and participate in HSE meetings, forums, and project reviews.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, contractor assessments, and incident investigations.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities on all HSE-related matters.
• Review permits to work, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Monitor, analyse, and report HSE performance metrics and trends.
• Drive the implementation of corrective and preventative actions to improve project performance.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with project HSE objectives.

Requirements

• Relevant degree, diploma, or professional HSE qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role within industrial, construction, energy, infrastructure, or major project environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and industry best practices.
• Experience managing contractor HSE performance on complex projects.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently in a site-based environment and influence a positive safety culture.
