Job summary

Elevation Recruitment Group is supporting a global manufacturing business in Hereford to hire an HSE Manager. Job description

Are you an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental professional looking to lead the HSE function within a high-hazard manufacturing environment? We are supporting a global manufacturing business in the search for an HSE Manager to join its Hereford site. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the site's Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, driving a proactive safety culture and ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and international standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate HSE leader who enjoys influencing at all levels of the business while making a real impact on operational performance and employee wellbeing. As HSE Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the site's health, safety and environmental agenda, working closely with senior leadership and operational teams to drive continuous improvement and embed best practice across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the site's Health, Safety & Environmental strategy.
  • Advise senior leadership on HSE legislation, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Lead and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Plan, conduct and lead internal audits, compliance inspections and governance reviews.
  • Investigate incidents, carry out root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report HSE performance through KPIs and monthly management reports.
  • Drive employee engagement and promote a positive, proactive safety culture throughout the site.
  • Deliver HSE training and coaching across all levels of the organisation.
  • Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies and manage external inspections and submissions.
  • Work closely with operational teams to identify risks, improve standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.

We're looking for an experienced HSE professional who has operated within a manufacturing or industrial environment and is confident leading both strategic and operational safety initiatives.

You’ll ideally have:
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH).
  • Experience working within manufacturing, heavy engineering, metals, aerospace, chemical or another high-hazard industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience implementing, maintaining and auditing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Process safety awareness or experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to influence positive behavioural change.
