The Job you will do
  • Act as the primary HSE lead on site, visible and approachable to all staff
  • Regularly attend operational areas, sites, and workshops to observe work practices. Lead by example, demonstrating safe behaviours and challenging unsafe acts
  • Build strong working relationships with managers, supervisors, and frontline employees
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation, regulations, and codes of practice
  • Carry out and maintain risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work. Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety tours, following up on actions
  • Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Deliver and coordinate HSE training, inductions, and toolbox talks
  • Coach managers and supervisors on their HSE responsibilities. Support employees with practical safety advice and problem-solving
  • Promote employee involvement in HSE initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Oversee environmental compliance, including waste, emissions, and resource management
  • Support initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve sustainability
  • Ensure environmental risks are identified, controlled, and monitored
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and management systems
  • Monitor performance using KPIs, inspections, and audits
  • Drive continuous improvement through practical, workable solutions
  • Prepare HSE reports for senior management, including trends and recommendations
  • Manage HSE requirements for contractors and visitors
  • Review contractor risk assessments and method statements
  • Monitor contractor activities on site to ensure compliance
About you
  • NEBOSH equivalent qualification
  • Membership with relevant professional bodies - IOSH, etc.
